Created in 1994, BARCOS PACIFICO DEL ESTE S.A. is a veteran Company in land development and management, reforestation, commercial and residential constructions for Panamanians as well as foreign absentee owners.

PANAMA BAMBU has clients worldwide including French, Italian, Spanish, Belgian, German, Swiss, Argentinean, Egyptian, Philippine, American and Israeli.

Philippe Athanatiades, Owner of Barcos Pacifico Del Este, S.A.

Born in France in 1947, Philippe started his career working in hostelry with his parents in the 8th district of Paris. He then managed several clubs, campments and hotels in the French capital and Corsica.

Several years later, Philippe moved to Africa to head the operations of secluded hunting reserves and hotels in Chad and Cameroon.

In the early 70's, he joined the highly competitive and exclusive COMEX diving team in Brazil. For 10 years, along with exceptional diver Robert Stenuit, Philippe salvaged shipwrecks and worked on oil platforms. He also built and operated a lobster restaurant called "La tortue verte" in Buzeos.

23 years ago, having spent enough time in Brazil, he sailed to Panama where he opened two well-known restaurants "Casco Viejo" and "Las Bovedas".

Avid fisherman and free diver, Philippe discovered the beautiful Pacific coast in the province of Los Santos and decided to make it his home.
Having sold his restaurants, he started Barcos Pacifico Del Este S.A.; a multifaceted Company specialized in Real Estate, land development and management, commercial reforestation and tourism.

He bought 1,000 Has (2,470 Acres) on 8 Kms (5 Miles) of Pacific coast next to Pedasi.
Over the years, Philippe planted over 250,000 trees such as Teak, Nim and African Caobab on his property and in the Chiriqui province and carefully landscaped certain areas with tropical plants and flowers.
His plantations are approved by State Licensed Agronomists who recognize its quality and Philippe's thorough understanding of soil Management.

Philippe's latest achievement is an exclusive tropical getaway called Posada de Los Destiladeros located 7 miles from Pedasi village.
There, several bungalows are rented to clients looking for complete privacy and outstanding meals…
